Aigle

The origins of Aigle date back to the Bronze Age and today the reputation of this welcoming town among the vineyards has spread far and wide. It's also a useful starting point for numerous excursions into the mountains in both summer and winter.
Why not come and explore the historical and cultural attractions of the town? The district of La Fontaine is a world apart with its own customs and traditions. The château, dating from the 12th century, houses the Vaud wine and vineyard museum. It's also the setting for numerous cultural events. The rue Jérusalem is a picturesque cobbled street lined with old houses connected by covered walkways. You can also admire the market square with its town-hall, and the clock tower in the place du Centre. The rue de Bourg is a popular pedestrianised shopping street.
Aigle has one of the finest 18-hole golf courses in Switzerland, complementing numerous other sporting facilities. The town lies at the cross-roads of a rail and road network leading directly to the heart of the Vaud Alps. Here you can enjoy all manner of winter sports as well as pleasant summer holidays.
Finally, the immediate proximity of the Vaud Riviera (Villeneuve, Montreux, Vevey, Lausanne) is another attractive reason for staying here.
