Rougemont, its dream chalets
Rougemont is an authentic village in the Lake Geneva Alps in the so-called Pays-d’Enhaut. The local architecture draws its inspiration from the surrounding fir forests. Downhill skiing and via ferrata are sports activities which are very much in demand.
Rougemont's big wooden chalets, decorated with dated and signed paintings, some of which are nearly 400 years old, represent an important part of the heritage of Pays-d’Enhaut. Rougemont has a Romanesque church founded by Cluny monks in the 11th century.
The first adjoining priory, which was the only convent in the Lake Geneva Alps was demolished and replaced by a castle for the Bernese bailiffs in the 16th century. From Videmanette, a resort above Rougemont, three via ferrata of varying levels guarantee effort and strong sensations.
In fact, all open-air sports activities are possible in Rougemont: hikes and didactic walks, rafting and river sports, mountain biking, swimming, tennis, archery, speleology, ski, cross-country, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding, skating and dog sledding, among others.
