Gryon, the Alps at their best
In the Alps of the Lake Geneva Region, Gryon, the Miroir d’Argentine and the hamlet of Taveyanne have been the focus of soft tourism for more than 150 years.
The south-facing, traditional village of Gryon (1,114 m) and the tourist resort Barboleuse enjoy a splendid view of the Alpine summits.
The authentic ancient chalets of the old village are under official protection. At the back of the valley rises famous Miroir d'Argentine (2,324 m), dominating the Solalex site, where gastronomic or terroir cuisine is on offer in two mountain restaurants: raclette over a wood fire, forest mushrooms, Mont d'Or Vacherin from the oven. This walk is an absolute must and can be organised in summer and also in winter equipped with snowshoes.
An unequalled feature to be discovered is Taveyanne, a hamlet that has been listed as national historic heritage. Its 16th-century chalets and its pastures, a nature reserve since 1970, are unique. The pasture is the venue of the traditional pastoral festival every mid-summer.
